Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I have a boudoir shoot?
Having your own boudoir session is an empowering experience. Some women do it to have intimate photos for their husbands or boyfriends, some do it just because I do it because I want to help celebrate you, the way you are now and I want you to do it because ultimately it’s a beautiful gift for yourself!
Will you post my photos online/show them to anyone?
Your photos are never shared without your permission. I understand and respect that privacy is extremely important. All the photos shown on my website are shared with permission. As my client you can choose whether to share your photos or not, it’s completely up to you. Some of my clients choose to share all their photos, some clients choose to share “anonymous” photos that don’t show their faces/identities, some clients choose not to share their photos at all. I want to stress that the decision is yours and I will never pressure you to share your photos if you don’t want to!
I’ve never done this before and don’t know how my pictures will turn out?
Most of the lovely ladies I shoot boudoir for are not professional models, they are just every day women who want to embrace how sexy and beautiful they can be! Almost everyone starts out nervous, it’s completely natural to be. I highly recommend booking my makeup artist and hair stylist, who always makes sure my clients step in front of my lens confident and looking camera-ready.
I’m not as young/thin/pretty as the girls on your website, is boudoir for me?
Boudoir is for every woman! I have shared this wonderful experience with women of all ages and shapes and each woman walks away feeling better than ever. My portfolio does not show the wide variety of women I’ve worked on since not every person wants their photos online (and I never pressure you to share your photos). I always say boudoir is about the experience and I want you to experience feeling empowered and beautiful.
I’m waiting to lose some weight before I book a shoot?
You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve heard this, but I always tell my clients that boudoir is about celebrating your beauty exactly as you are. If you’re thinking about having a photo session, don’t wait! I want to photograph you NOW to show you that you’re perfect and beautiful just the way you are.
Should I tan before a session?
I do not recommend tanning before your photo session, unless it’s something you normally do. Tanning booths and spray tans make most people look orange. Though I provide retouching (like lightening blemishes) on photos, removing tan lines and bringing orange skin to a more natural skin tone will incur an additional charge.
WHO ARE YOUR MAKEUP AND HAIR ARTISTS?
My female staff is experienced in all aspects of fashion and current trends in hair and makeup. They are experts at making women look their best. Every session with my studio is produced like magazine photo shoots, so you get to look and feel like a real supermodel by working with these talented women.
What are your studio hours and how soon should I book?
I shoot all 7 days of the week! I usually get booked by clients in advance, so I recommend scheduling your shoot as soon as you’ve decided to do one, especially if you are looking for time on the weekend. Please inquire with me for more information by filing out the form at the bottom of this page.
What is required to book a session?
Once you have decided on a date and time, I require the session fee as a retainer and a signed photography contract to reserve your session.
Do you accept credit cards?
I accept all major credit cards and also accept email money transfers and Paypal payments.
Where do these boudoir sessions take place?
I shoot at a lot of places! Most clients like to come to one of my studios, the large studio is located in West Edmonton and the home studio is located in Beaumont, AB (just outside Edmonton) but if requested I can also shoot at your home or a hotel.
How long does a session last?
The sessions are 3-4 hours in length which includes time for hair and makeup.
Do you provide the outfits?
I do not provide outfits due to hygiene reasons. Every person has a different style, and I encourage my clients to bring outfits to match their personality!
Then what should I wear?
Most of my clients choose to purchase lingerie for their boudoir shoots but it is completely up to you! Choosing your outfits is part of the whole experience. I send out a lingerie guide after you book your session to help you choose items that compliment your body type. I like to think outside the box and suggest bringing items like a sexy pair of jeans or a bra with a leather coat.
What about makeup and hair?
Professional makeup and hair by my team is highly recommended for all clients. I want you to get the full experience, which includes being pampered and transformed by professionals who know their craft!
I’m not a model and don’t know how to pose, can you help?
I get this question all the time… most of my clients are not professional models, and I understand that. I will show you how to look your best and give you direction on how to position your body in front of the camera. Some clients have reported being slightly soar from all the different poses but it is well worth it in the end.
When can I review my photos?
Photos will be ready for viewing approximately 2-3 weeks following your session. Rush processing is available (for an additional cost) should you need your photos by a deadline, such as for an anniversary, birthday, wedding, etc.
How many photos do I get to review?
Up to 30 images will be presented to you during your in studio viewing session or sent to you through my online proofing gallery. I do offer $25 off my package prices for clients who choose an in studio viewing session as well as a $100 gift voucher to give to anyone you wish.
I see my acne, scars, cellulite and stretch marks! Can you edit it out?
Most of the time, yes. I recommend booking my makeup artist to get you looking your best, and whatever makeup can’t fix, I do my best to edit. This includes lightening fine lines, removing minor acne, cellulite, scars, stretch marks, and some custom figure shaping techniques. While I do my best to enhance your features, I don’t want to completely change the way you look (so I won’t do drastic alterations). If you have specific concerns, please contact me directly so I can address these matters with you.
How much editing do you do on the pictures?
I edit every photo that I show you, so by the time you see your photos they have already gone through light retouching. Photo editing is custom for every client and I strive for a naturally glamorous style that emphasizes your best features. Once you select your final favourite photos, whether it’s for your album, digital files or folio print box, I’ll edit them to perfection.
What if I need more retouching?
Trust me when I say that most of the time, you won’t! I try to get every photo perfect in camera, which means your pose and your expression and your body language is already close to perfect when I take your picture. Then I go into retouching, which means I will adjust and fix things. If you have something really big (like a tattoo) that needs more editing, let me know ahead of time and we can discuss your needs.
How many images should I order?
This is completely up to you! Sessions come with 30 retouched digitals to choose from. My top package comes with a beautiful handcrafted flush mounted album. Of course you are always welcome to purchase more photos to add to your order. Many clients love their photos so much they can't help themselves!
When will I receive my album/prints/wall art/digitals?
Delivery time will vary depending the product you order. Most of my clients’ print products are ready to be picked up in 4-6 weeks after the photos have been selected. Please note that certain products will take additional time to produce in print labs, if you need your photos by a specific deadline please let me know right away and I will try to accommodate your needs.
Can you accommodate last minute bookings? (I need my pictures ASAP)
I occasionally schedule last minute bookings (when available) for clients who absolutely can’t wait to have their photos. Booking the shoot last minute does not mean you will be charged additional session fees. However putting in a rush order on retouching/print production means the photos will be billed at a rush rate.
Do you offer digital files?
I do offer the option of purchasing all the digital files from your session. Please fill out the form below for more information.
Can I bring a friend to my shoot?
This is totally up to you and your comfort level. This is an intimate and personal experience and so I leave that decision up to you. I do request that you keep it to just one additional person. Even better, have you and your friend book a shoot back to back. I offer special deals if your friend books a shoot back to back with yours. I also have a great referral program if you refer a friend after your shoot.
How old do I have to be to have a session?
I ask that all my clients be 21 and up. Please be prepared to present a valid ID on the day of your shoot.
Can I drink (alcohol) before my session?
I don’t serve alcohol at my studio, and also do not recommend having a drink before your shoot. You might think that you’ll be more relaxed if you drink, but you’ll have less control over both your facial expressions and your body movements. You might even start to look sleepy eyed in your photos. These factors will yield unflattering photos, which is the totally not the purpose of a boudoir shoot!
How revealing is the photo shoot?
That depends on the comfort level of every individual in front of the camera. I also do women’s portraiture so if you want some beautiful classic portraits (fully clothed), I can accommodate you as well. In terms of nudity, some of my clients choose to pose nude, others go with “implied nudity” which means strategically photographing a partially nude person to leave the rest to the imagination. It’s really up to you!
I’ve seen my photos and I LOVE them! How do I order products (prints, albums, Folio Boxes etc)?
I'm so glad you love your photographs! You can order any products during your photo review. The full payment for products ordered is due before print production can begin. I do not order products without receiving the full payment.
If I choose to review my photos in the online gallery, can I just print them from there?
Photos in your online gallery will be displayed in screen resolution which is not suitable for printing. I will release the high resolution printed files to you after receiving payment.
Can I purchase my photos without retouching?
All photos you see in magazines go through an in-depth retouching process, and I want you to experience what it would be like to shoot a magazine editorial. This experience wouldn’t be complete unless your photos are personally retouched by me. I do not offer discounts for untouched photos. That would be like serving cake without icing!!
I have an emergency! Can I reschedule the shoot?
I understand that things come up last minute and sometimes it can’t be helped. Reschedule requests made with at least a 48 hour notice will be rescheduled one time for free.
I got sick/am not feeling well, should I reschedule the shoot?
Yes, please reschedule! I do not photograph clients when they’re ill. When you don’t feel your best, you definitely won’t look your best, and that’s something that will translate to photos. If you are coming down with a flu or just not feeling well, make sure to let me know as soon as possible and I can reschedule your shoot.
What if I need to reschedule within 48 hours of my shoot date?
Please understand that since you confirmed for your session, it means my team and my studio was made unavailable to other clients in order to shoot with you. If you cannot make the second appointment, the session is considered a “no-show” and the the retainer/fees paid is non-refundable.
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY?
Due to the custom nature of our service, the retainer/session fee and fee for any products ordered is non-refundable and non-transferable. I will always get your approval on any print orders, so you’ll know what your final product will look like before we send anything to print.
